The Power of Social Media.

Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even TikTok are apps that the majority of people have on their phones nowadays. Whether you’re an avid scroller, or you’re learning how to create seamless video transitions, social media has its uses for each and every one of us and this past year has definitely seen an increase and difference in how we use it. 


According to the Digital Global Overview Report, at the beginning of this decade, 60% of the population were using the internet and social media, and experts predicted that this number would increase dramatically as the year progressed. Jump to now and the amount of global social media users has increased by 13%, therefore totalling a whopping 4.2 billion (Digital Global Overview Report). eCommerce is another area which saw rapid growth in the last year, which is something that goes hand in hand with social media, with lots of our favourite platforms now offering their own eCommerce options. 


We’re looking at the past few years with a smile, not a huge one because it’s definitely been tough for everyone, but enough to make it obvious that we’re smiling. We’re giving ourselves a decent pat on the back, for all the laughs, the bright and cheerful content, the reminder of the constant support and the happiness that we’ve been able to achieve online. We’ve been able to support so many artists, through featuring their work, their progress, their brand new shiny online shops. We’re proud to be a part of such a great online community, that’s forever growing and will always be Awesome. 


We’ve seen so many of our favourite bands, businesses, artists and venues completely change and adapt to the situation in so many wonderful ways. Live streaming performances, starting local deliveries and holding online craft fairs, it’s something that we never imagined we’d have to do, but we’ve smashed it. All of this couldn’t have been achieved without fans, loyal customers and the power of social media.  




After the year where everyone had a lot more time to be online, we wanted to offer our super simple top tips for our most popular platform – Instagram:


–  We tend to see a trend of more people being online during the evening and after work hours, this tends to be the most engaging time, so make sure that you’re posting regularly and consistently. If you have a Professional Account, Instagram has its own analytics section where you can find out your optimum time for engagement.


 –  Always tag the location via the location option and also through the use of hashtags, this gives your post more of a chance to reach wider audiences within your local area. Even if you’re just tagging the town / city nearest to you, it will help your post reach more people. 


 –  Consider the content that you are creating for your platform, is it relevant? Make the most of your surroundings and think about what has previously been engaging with your audience. By doing this you will not only be transparent and real online, but you’ll be creating content that your audience will definitely want to see. 


 –  Grow your audience through the use of competitions and giveaways. We’ve found that a simple tag and share competition can grow following easily. You don’t have to give away a large prize, it could be a simple voucher or a piece of merchandise. 


 –  Consider using reels, Instagram has released a statement recently saying that they are going to be focusing on video content a lot more as the year goes on. They’re super easy to make, and by using popular sounds it can give your video an extra push to get more views. You can read more about reels here




Although the light at the end of the tunnel looks like it’s here, we’re still encouraging all of our customers, staff and followers to stay safe, as we ease our way back into what we knew as normality. We’re still going to be continuing to grow our online community, seeking out new and exciting creatives to work with all over the world and honour their craft online.
