We’re super proud to be a part of this year’s live project for final year students at Nottingham Trent University. Each student is currently taking the Fashion Communication and Promotion BA (Hons) and taught by one of our Awesome pals – Matt Gill, aka Raw Print.
We’re amongst some super cool companies involved in this year’s live project, including Paul Smith, SkinnyDip London, Future Laboratory, and W Agency. On the 24th Feb, each client presented their extensive brief to the students, the students were then split into several groups and assigned a brief each. Every client has a total of 18 students, working in groups of 3 across the project and each one is incentivised to make the result even more exciting.
Our Awesome Marketing team put their heads together to come up with an amazing brief that was set and managed by our very own Senior Designer, master doodler and one half of Zineswap – Mr. Gordo.
REZINE – Rethinking the Zine in an Awesome way.
The brief was all about our world, how it’s changing and what we can do to change it. We encouraged the students to think with an eco-conscious mindset, to advertise something that they are passionate about, and to ensure that their actions are impressionable and engaging.
We challenged them to put these views and values into action, through the production of an eco-friendly zine, and a selection of our eco-friendly range.
Fast forward to the 23rd of March and it was time for the NTU students to come and join us for a day! They arrived at around 11 am and wandered over to our Awesome Studio, the home of our Creative and Marketing Team. The purpose of the day was to give the students a full overview of the brief and find out more about us.
We spent the morning looking through the brief and chatting about ideas, we were super impressed and excited about the ideas that the students came up with and we can’t wait to see the outcome. Once we’d chatted through the brief it was lunchtime and we all enjoyed some pizza and some downtime to look through Gordo’s incredible Zine collection.
The deliverables for the brief are to produce a zine and some accompanying products which promote their zine. The Zine can be printed onto a huge range of different mediums, including t-shirts, tea towels, or even tote bags, we wanted to make sure that our brief was incredibly broad so that the students could have the opportunity to be as creative as they wanted. For them to visualize their zine in some of these non-traditional formats, we printed a huge range of eco-friendly products for them to check out on the day. We printed everything from tote bags to t-shirts and even a huge range of recycled paper-based products and boxed them up for the students to take back with them.
We also made sure that all of the students had the opportunity to take a tour around the factory, where they saw a huge range of different processes and pieces of the merchandise being made. This enabled them to see exactly how each of their products would be made if they were to choose a particular product and to see our Awesome space for themselves!
We can’t wait to see the final result for their live project, keep your eyes peeled for another update coming soon!
