Our first ever online workshop – Awesome Zine 2 is here!

A few months ago we held our first ever interactive workshop, filled with all things Zine related and hosted by our very own Senior Designer – Mr. Gordo along with two of his great pals – Rob Peart from Zineswap and Matt Gill from Raw Print. We were joined by over 60 participants from all over the UK and Europe to complete seven simple drawing tasks to complete our Awesome Zine 2.

From the very beginning of the day, we took over our socials to bring you all things Zine related, from exciting giveaways, competitions and even some of our favourite zine artists. Are you wondering what a zine actually is? It’s pretty simple really. Zines have been circulating since around 1766 and they encourage the free spirit nature that lives amongst artists and creatives all over the globe. Creating a zine can be done in so many ways, they are the perfect way to release all of your creative energy and the outcome will be incredible. Typically, once all of your pieces are complete, these are compiled together, folded and stapled together and you are left with a limitless masterpiece that is otherwise known as a Zine.

The participants took part in seven different easy-going doodling activities all situated around the word AWESOME, the idea was that each member of the group would draw whatever came to their mind after hearing each statement. To celebrate the release of Awesome Zine 2, we’ve also introduced some new paper stock colours to our range, and we’re super excited to finally get to show them to you!

Take your mind and eyes on an incredible journey throughout seven different drawing tasks, all portrayed differently throughout personal preference and drawing style. Each page completely different from the last and no two drawings the same, our Awesome Zine 2 is filled with interesting ideals and descriptive doodles, destined to allow your mind to wander.

A is for Awesome – Draw what is Awesome to you, or what you can see in your room that is awesome.

W is for Wobbly – Draw in a wobbly way, hold the pen in your other hand or hold it in your mouth.

E is for Ear – Draw your own ear, or a famous ear, or what you can hear with your ear right now.

S is for Silhouette –  Draw your silhouette.

O is for Object –  Someone describes an object and the rest of you draw what they describe.

M is for Multiples –  Draw a monster whilst holding many, many pens in one hand!

E is for Everyone – Draw yourself!

We want to say a big thank you to all participants who joined in on such an Awesome day! And not forgetting our Awesome hosts – Mr. Gordo, Rob Peart from Zineswap and Matt Gill from Raw Print. We can’t wait to host something similar in the future.

You might have noticed that this particular Zine is printed onto a brand new set of stock colours, which isn’t currently available on our website. But we’re giving you the chance to come up with a great name for this set and the chance to win a £50 voucher to spend on our site! Head over to our Instagram now to find out how to enter!
