Our Donation To Yorkshire’s Largest Hospice

Tagged with:

Here at Awesome Merchandise we’re constantly evaluating what we can do for our local community and what we can do to help. We value our surroundings and the people within it and we’re always looking for new ways to give back to those who need it most.

Recently we got in touch with St Gemma’s Hospice, who are an independent charity and have been providing expert care to the people of Leeds for over 40 years. They provide the best possible care and support for local people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. They are also the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK, and they have supported over 3000 people in the past year alone.

We wanted to donate a large number of unused garments, including T-shirts, scarves and other pieces of apparel so that they could raise funds for their hospice. These garments have been acquired over a number of years and we have been unable to return them. So we wanted to make sure they were put to good use and by donating them to our local hospice we are not only supporting St Gemma’s but also supporting our local community. Donations are incredibly important to the hospice and provide a substantial amount of support to both their charity shops and their profits. With over twenty stores across Leeds and the surrounding area, St Gemma’s shops have been open since the 12th of April and have been eagerly awaiting opening their doors to the public again.

After approximately seven van loads, over a couple of days, the collection from St Gemma’s was completed and the donation had been sent. Christine from St Gemma’s hospice said that “This is a fantastic donation to our charity and will certainly raise some valuable funds for our Hospice”.

We’re super proud as a company to be able to support the community around us, it’s one of the most valuable things to us here at Awesome Merchandise and we can’t wait to be able to work on similar projects in the future.
