Our Awesome Christmas Gift Guide

December is officially here and we can’t quite believe how fast the festive season has come around! Our decorations are officially out of storage, the heating is most definitely on and the Christmas shopping has begun. Over the past few weeks we’ve visited a number of festive craft fairs and even had our own stall at one, but we wanted to emphasise the importance of shopping small this Christmas, and supporting local businesses by buying your friends and family something truly special.

With Christmas just around the corner, we thought we’d put together an Awesome Guide to Christmas Gifting, featuring work from some of our favourite Awesome customers.

We’re starting the guide with our brand new Winter Charity Campaign – Keep Leeds Warm 2021, supporting the legendary Simon On The Streets. Continuing on from the success of Keep Leeds Warm last year, we wanted to contact some of Leeds’ finest creatives to see if they’d like to get involved. This year’s campaign includes work from Leah Rose Illustration, Drew Millward, Hattie Clark and Bear Patrol.

Simon on the Streets is an independent charity in West Yorkshire helping the homeless and vulnerable. They provide hope for those without a voice, and we couldn’t think of a better charity to support not only through winter, but all year round. We’ve pledged to donate a grand total of £50,000.

Find out more about Simon on the Streets here.

Our Keep Leeds Warm range includes products for any budget, from as little as £3 to a maximum of £25, and by purchasing something from this range, you can guarantee that all of the proceeds are being donated to a worthy cause.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift this Christmas, why not check out the Awesome creatives that were involved with our Keep Leeds Warm Campaign. They’re all incredibly talented and have some awesome products in their shops!

Drew Millward is an illustrator from Coventry, he grew up in Bolton and studied in Leeds until moving to the Aire Valley. He loves the physicalities of traditional methods of illustration, with most of his work starting out simply on paper with a pencil. He has created work for many bands, including Foo Fighters, along with creating limited edition pieces for Bundobust, Northern Monk and Leeds International Beer Festival.

Hattie Clark is an illustrator based in Leeds, she’s loved drawing from a very young age. She studied in her field both in Leeds and Bath, before becoming a freelance illustrator. Hattie’s work is filled with inky type, wobbly people and animals in various oversized accessories. Her simple and playful designs compliment a beautifully bold colour palette, and are a complete joy to look at!

Bear Patrol is a comic all about a blue bear, created and illustrated by Beck Carlton. Beck first came to our attention with their incredible successful, cute & often slightly sinister Mercht campaigns. They have been producing consistently funny and engaging small press work for years now and have built up a hugely loyal following, locally and internationally.

Leah Haywood is an illustrator based in Leeds, she’s also a graduate from Leeds Art University. She has a keen interest in nature, how we feel and how we connect. She started working freelance back in 2020 and has been growing her following since!
