Case Study – Big Scary Monsters

Tagged with:

We work closely with independent record label Big Scary Monsters, not only printing merchandise for them and their bands but fulfilling their web orders via our sub-brand Awesome Distro.

Founder Kev Douch explains how we’ve worked with them and their bands to produce a merchandise presence.

BSM Records are an independent record label based out of Oxford, UK. We’ve worked closely with the label owner Kevin Douch for many years, supplying the label and the label’s bands with merch for tours, running the label’s web store and fulfilment, and collaborating on merch ranges for festivals.

Most recently, we helped the BSM team open a US web store for one of the bands on their roster.

“Awesome print all of our merchandise and run our web store, effectively being our hub for everything. The attention to detail and quality has always been so good, we don’t need to worry about that. It’s printed and shipped from one place and we know the customers are always happy.”

Top merch tips for bands from Big Scary Monsters

1)Be cohesive

Make sure that everything from your flyers and album artwork to your merchandise offering all ties together.

2) Think brand as well as band

Your band is, in essence, a brand. You want people to see your merch or albums and recognise it straight away.

3) Quality is key

Make sure that from day one your merchandise offering makes sense and is good quality, as it will go on to be a very important revenue stream for you as you grow as a band.
